Adi Subramanyeshwara Swamy Temple, Gonibeedu

If you are on your way to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Western Ghats (Sringeri, Horanadu) or the architectural wonders of Belur temples, one of the temples you should visit enroute is this calm, beautiful, pleasant place in Gonibeedu. It is hardly a kilometre from the main road leading from Mudigere to Belur. This ancient temple in a village called Agrahara is situated on the banks of the Hemavathi river. There are two main deities here - Adi Subramanyeshwara and Paravathamma temples - placed in a typical quadrangle surrounded by a clean platform with a cool shelter.

How to get there?
By car: If you are starting from Belur and moving towards Dharmastala, you will find this place between Cheekanahalli and Jannapura (followed by Mudigere). Just after Gonibeedu bus stop on this main road, look for an arch on your left (called as Mandimane) with the label "Adi Subramanyeshwara Temple". Get inside the arch and just follow the road and directions towards the temple, you will reach this beautiful place just within a km from the main road.

This is a Historic place, Ammanavaru ie Godess Parvathi is also situated. This is built by Hoysalas.River hemavathi is much bigger than seen in the picture. Every Dasara festival is performed for all the 10 days in a grand way.

I am proud to hail from Gonibeedu.

Mother Nature seems to have kissed this place with affection.
The deity there of Adi Subramanya Kshethra signifies SANAATHANA DHARMA, and has huge powers unfolded. One would realise it if bowed-down with true devotion,
the Rathotsava held on every Kumara Shrasste of Makara Maasa proves it all.......

Ms.Geetha ji,

Namaste. Thanks for this very useful information along with temple photos. Some seven years back, we visited the temple. Now, we want to visit the deity again on 14th December, 2011. Do you have any idea of temple/pooja timings? I tried a lot but did not get any contact number of temple. I highly appreciate any information in this regard.

Thanks and regards,
Dr.Prasad
